There is an old Arab proverb: “If you honor the noble, you gain his loyalty; but if you honor the ignoble, he turns against you.” America has honored millions of us who came from broken, corrupt, and collapsing countries. It gave us what our homelands denied us: dignity, value, liberty, stability, and the simple ability to build a future without begging a warlord, a sectarian militia, or a government clerk for permission to breathe. America did not interrogate our lineage or religion. It didn’t ask for tribute. It didn’t demand blood loyalty. It simply opened the door and said: live free. But among us there are noble and ignoble. Those of us who are noble love America more than the countries we were born in, not because we’re traitors, but because America deserves. We feel a weight of gratitude. A sense of responsibility. A desire to give back because America gave us more than we will ever give. And yet, America is humble. It simply asks us to live as good citizens, the same way it asks its own children. America adopted us and made us family. That is why the noble immigrant stands with this country. But the ignoble, that is a different story. Freedom does not humble him; it entitles him. Instead of gratitude, he feels resentment. Instead of loyalty, he offers grievance. America gives them everything, but they don't care. They want to import the same culture they fled and replace the culture they fled to. He is the student who chants “Death to America” using government loans. He is the beneficiary of America’s generosity who calls America “oppressive” while enjoying freedoms his own homeland would never allow. America doesn’t know how to distinguish the noble from the ignoble, because it treats everyone with the same goodwill. America doesn't want the same blind loyalty we ran from, but it deserves a conscious loyalty for being the greatest nation on Earth. It is the only place where, if you fail, you can stand up again and again, and if it fails, no one will ever be able to stand up.

Beautiful & so true. As my grandmother asked me when I was a kid learning English after fleeing Cuba: “Tell me about these Americans, how can they be so powerful when they’re so naive? There are so many communists already here, and they don’t seem to notice.” May they always be so powerful that the few ingrates are beneath notice. But that’s becoming harder to do because we all notice the Islamo-communists. May America notice enough to deport them from our midst.

Born and raised in America, I am grateful to have people like you as my neighbor. Sadly there are also many ignoble citizens born and raised in America.

One of the best "aha!" posts I've seen in a long time. Using this model, we have noble and ignoble American-born citizens, too. Is the foundational difference that the noble take personal responsibility and the ignoble don't?

//America did not interrogate our lineage or religion.// One of those early 20th century newcomers became the bosses of Wall Street, Hollywood & the sponsors of your politics. Billy Bob gets subpar VA system, Bibi gets Patriot missiles.

Important to note that no society is perfect Because leftists only comprehend fairytale moral political concepts One side is darkest evil The other pure good Reality is much more grey America isn't perfect Just far better than many other places and provides freedoms
