HT, 0-2. Some boos at the whistle. Sitting here a week ago, I was pessimistic about Spurs coming back from 1-0 down against Villa, so this game is very far from over. But Spurs been flat & predictable a very post-Europy performance. Credit to Ipswich, been disciplined & a threat.

There feels a strong chance Spurs will respond here to win comfortably, as they did against Villa a week ago. But consistently having to recover from a goal down is not sustainable indefinitely & eventually they'll get a game like Wolves last February, where they come unstuck.
13 - Tottenham have fallen 1-0 behind in 13 home Premier League matches in 2024. Only Spurs themselves in 1994 (14), Ipswich in 1994 (14) and Crystal Palace in 2017 (14) have done so in more home games in a single calendar year in the competition. Recurring.

Postecoglou hoping Romero will be fit to return vs Ipswich on Sunday but expects Werner, Moore to remain out. Richarlison's hamstring injury is "significant" but AP reluctant to put a timeline on his return.

My book, ‘States of Play’, is out now. It is really a modern history of football, and how it has been transformed by three main forces: geopolitics, especially autocratic states; a very western capitalism; the game’s own greed and failures of authority geni.us/StatesOfPlay

Arsenal have given every impression of being one of the league's best-run clubs but how well they replace Edu will test that hypothesis. City again feel like a benchmark after moving quickly to land Hugo Viana. Column: standard.co.uk/sport/footbal…

Pape Matar Sarr was key to a big week for Spurs, scoring in the win over Manchester City before an influential performance in the comeback against Aston Villa. The 22-year-old increasingly feels like one of the club's most important players. Piece: standard.co.uk/sport/footbal…

HT, 0-1. Feels like a familiar story for Spurs, who have had more of the ball but struggled to create against a compact Villa and trail to a set piece goal. How long before Postecoglou calls for Maddison or Richarlison?
