An overwhelming amount of positive comments came from my post about being drained and I think it shows a side of CT we often don’t see.
Thank you to everyone wishing me well and to those having belief I will eventually make it back.
Here are some answers to questions I have received a few times in post and DMs
- Drained amount was low six fig
- It was pretty much everything I own and yes it is a hard loss
- I did know the person
- Was not a typical crypto scam, more so socially engineered by a “friend”
- I have reported it
- My computer has been completely reset, all HDD/SSD’s cleared. Lost a lot of files as I panic wiped everything
- This is my only wallet now, and it is secure: CXjjcY1qMQE9fqW4FYaf8pA2eKQqz9ND54ZFShmMN8dk
I am really not much of a trencher, so losing conviction port is tough. Security is very important.
Although it is tragic, it reinforces the need for strong security with your assets. We all know to avoid the generic scams, but you never know who may be out to get you, and it can be someone trusted.
One mistake can remove months to years of hard work.
Basically, never let your guard down, always be skeptical, even if it’s something unrelated to crypto, or a trusted individual. better safe than sorry
I was recently drained after trusting someone I've known for years.
They asked me to test something they were building as I have done in the past, so I didn't think twice. I ran it, gave feedback, and everything was normal afterward.
Hours later my my emails had been compromised alongside my wallet drained.
I have always been careful about links, scams, and remain cautious in this space. I never imagined someone I knew for years would be the reason I lost everything, and it makes me feel sick.
I am not one to trench or trade very often. My port was spread across fewer than 5 coins I believed in, and I'd spent weeks / months building some positions, I have sacrificed a lot of time to this space because crypto was finally giving me a way to change my life.
It's difficult to describe what it feels like to open your wallet and see everything you worked for gone. I won't go into my personal circumstances, but I'm devastated by the loss.
One moment you can be in a position of stability, with the future looking hopeful, and the next moment the trajectory of everything drastically changes in ways you never imagined possible.
Truthfully, this has put me in to a difficult position, and I have no idea what the next few weeks look like or how I begin to move forward from this.
My entire computer has since been reset and I wiped my SSD/HDDs completely.
I was originally not going to share this publicly but a friend convinced me to post as there is currently a lot on my mind.
I have always been one to express myself through the posts on my page. If I could help someone through a warning of never being too careful with your crypto, even in regards to threats from outside the space, or just solidarity with someone going through a similar scenario, that is a positive in this negative situation.
