⚠️Random NFT appears in your wallet with a HUGE WETH offer... will accepting it drain your wallet?⚠️ Not necessarily. And that's exactly what makes this scam interesting. Scammers have used variations of this tactic for years: 1️⃣Random NFT gets airdropped to you You've never seen the collection. You've never minted it. But suddenly it's sitting in your wallet. 2️⃣There's a juicy WETH offer attached Maybe the NFT is "worth" .1 WETH. Maybe .2 WETH. Now you're thinking... Someone wants to give me HOW MUCH for this random NFT? Curiosity kicks in. 3️⃣The collection looks ACTIVE Sales happening. Offers being made. Volume increasing. Wallets trading back and forth. Except... Much of that activity is controlled by the scammer with multiple wallets.. They're manufacturing activity to make the collection look legitimate. 4️⃣You try interacting with the offer It doesn't work as expected. OpenSea throws an error. Now you're confused. But you REALLY want that WETH... So what do you do? You start investigating. And THAT can be where the real scam begins. 5️⃣You find the "mint" or collection website The fake activity has convinced you there's real demand. Maybe the collection is "still minting." Maybe the website tells you to connect your wallet. And now you're exactly where the attacker wanted you. A malicious website can lead you into signing dangerous transactions or approvals. Or you simply spend ETH minting worthless NFTs and the scammer walks away with the funds. The random NFT wasn't necessarily the attack... Your curiosity was the attack vector.... Best response? → Don't chase the offer → Don't visit URLs associated with the NFT → Don't connect your wallet → Hide/report the NFT → Move on Sometimes the safest transaction is the one you never sign.
