Oh, they’re so many! The entire 1989 album takes me back to a very specific season in my life because I was going through it when it just came out and it saw me through! I could relate so hard to every single song on the album. I was a young girl who was still trying to find her place in the world, questioning love, my worth, wondering why it had to end. Wheewww!😭
Loverrr puts me in a car ride I took with my husband to see his parents. He’s also a swiftie and we were blasting and singing at the top of our lungs the entire ride🤣 Paper Rings and the title track became our songs.
Folklore saw me through processing trauma. I was happy and in healthy love, but still reeling from a previous abusive relationship and all it came with. I’d listen to it all day as I poured myself into work. Lover for happy days, Folklore for contemplative days.
“Mean” and “You Belong With Me” was when I discovered Taytay. I was a 12 year old girl being emotionally bullied in Junior High, and crushing on a boy that seemed to think he was enough to go around for everyone. I’d listen to both songs with my wired earphones plugged to the china phone my sister had passed down to me as I did my chores or took a stroll, and I’d be singing along so passionately because why were they so mean? And why couldn’t he see he belonged with me???😭🤣
I love, love how music just transports you to specific moments in time. You remember who you were, what you thought and how you felt about yourself, what the skies looked like that day. The petrichor in the air that morning because it rained the night before. The quick lunch break you took before returning to your desk. All the landmarks you drove past on that journey. How the trees seemed a little dry and dusty with the late November winds coming in. Wheeww! Music is life! And Taylor’s music has accompanied me through life. You’d never understand how much she means to me🥹♥️
what’s one taylor swift song you can’t listen to casually because the second it starts, you’re mentally transported back to a specific person, place, or version of yourself?
