When @johnlcooper shared his story with @alisa_childers there were many folks who gave the predictable pushback:
"No one really believes apostles actually govern over elders and local church leaders."
Below is an excerpt from Chuck Pierce's book "Apostolic Church Arising" where his associate Robert Heidler describes the process of getting rid of their "old wineskin" model of elder-led governance and moving into the "new wineskin" model of single-apostle governance.
He describes the moment he told Chuck, "We're all resigning and the church is yours."
Why would he do this? So that the chucrh would be "established on an apostolic foundation."
Sometimes this happens overtly, sometimes it happens covertly.
Sometimes elders are removed, sometimes they remain as figureheads while functionally subordinating themselves to an apostolic leader who views himself as the direct means by which "heaven comes to earth" in the church.
In my own personal experience, I saw how a man who called himself an apostle and his wife who called herself a prophet attempted to tell a board of elders that they could not be fired because elders do not have the authority to fire the governing apostle/prophet of a church.
This stuff really does happen.
Are there distinctions that must be made when referencing the NAR? Of course.
Is it made up? Definitely not.
Does it have consequences at an ecclesiological level? 100%

Based on what I have seen, it seems that Brian Simmons is telling concerned leaders behind the scenes that he is sorry for using "faulty Aramaic manuscripts" for over a decade in the Passion "Translation" and he's trying to "make it right."
But just yesterday, Brian posted on FB an excerpt from the 2017 edition of TPT.
Why is this a big deal?
It's a big deal because this is one of hundreds of examples where Brian copy/pastes what seem to be a made up rendering from the website of Victor Alexander.
Not only were no "manuscripts" involved, Brian allegedly admitted to a well known NIV Bible translator (Dr. Mark Strauss) that he doesn't even know Syriac at all.

Instead of the peace of Christ "guarding our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus," TPT says that God's peace will "make the answers known to you."
This copy/paste of Victor Alexander's pseudo-Aramaic "translation" is a total inversion of the message of the passage, which has nothing to do with God revealing all of the answer's to life's problems.
Rather, it deals with God's peace comforting and guarding our hearts whether He gives us answers or not.

Notably, this was actually corrected in the 2020 edition of TPT, which has a more mainstream translation here.
I cannot escape the opinion that Brian Simmons simply does not really care if he continues to mislead people with Victor Alexander's spurious inventions.
He will say what he needs to say to important and well-connected leaders behind the scenes while continuing to promote the fraudulent work on his platform. 3/
