We had an internet and cable outage here yesterday. My physical books still work fine.
I used my evening to make great progress reading Witchy Eye by @DavidJohnButler . I'm more than half done.
Folks should pick up a physical copy of this book next week!

It's been an exhausting day, but a great one. I walked six miles, recorded five episodes and two clips, and prepared a Powerpoint slide deck.
Ended up having a terrific conversation with @TempusMalleo about the High Low Brow channel and the Kickstarter and the many other things in between.
Tomorrow starts at the crack of nasty, so I'll sit and let moss grow on me for just a little bit to unwind, and then I gotta hit the sack.

I've been a website pilgrim.
I was on blogger-dot-com for the first year or so.
Then moved it all to wordpress site with a flexible but kind of homely template, hosted by hostgator. I wanted a website that did lots of things, like list my convention schedule, and my awards, and have a blog, and a bunch of links.
It did all the things. And it was kind of homely.
Then I did some work with a company that said, "Hey, as part of your compensation, we'll build you a cool new website!"
They built the cool new website. Or rather, their devs in southeast Asia did. And those same devs larded the site up with malware. So I shut my website down, oh, about a year ago.
A friend did me a favor and basically set up a new site for me this weekend. It's simple: I don't want a blog or a widget showing my most recent X post or anything else complicated. But I like it. Here it is:

THE WITCHY WAR IS ABOUT SARAH CALHOUN.
This is Sarah. She's smart, loyal, funny, charismatic, and a talented hexer. She's also paranoid, xenophobic, and kinda mean. She was raised the youngest child of the Calhoun Elector, the one-armed war hero Iron Andy.
When Imperial army officers and a Yankee wizard try to kidnap her in Nashville, she learns her true identity. Sarah is the hidden daughter of the murdered king of Cahokia, the Imperial Consort Kyres Elytharias. Her mother is the tragic Empress Mad Hannah Penn, long locked away and now dead. Her uncle, the Emperor Thomas Penn, has learned of Sarah's existence and wants her dead.
Sarah flees down the Natchez Trace with the Firstborn monk Thalanes, a wizard who served her parents, and Calvin Calhoun, cattle rustler, trader, and a good fellow in a pinch, who grew up thinking he was Sarah's nephew and now can admit he has a crush on her. Her quest is to get to the two siblings she never knew she had, before the Emperor Thomas does.

It's about the struggle of Thomas Penn to break free of the shackles of constitutional government and make himself a true autocrat. It's about the spiritual pilgrim and tradition-thief Luman Walters, and his effort to find peace by delving ever deeper into the secrets of the world.
The Witchy War is about the quest of the learned to overcome death, and the price they are willing to impose on others. It's about the rising of the ancient and forgotten god of the Mississippi and Ohio Rivers, now berserk and driven to sate himself with destruction. It's about the attempt to restore the lost covenants by which the peace of the world was maintained, in the face of the opposition of friend and foe alike.
