Thanks for sharing this boss... I have been amazed at the amnesia displayed towards the repression that characterized the nyayo era...more egregiously some people are demanding that the victims forgive Moi..😂😂😂

Quest to sanitize Moi and the animus towards his victims is reminder that the upper echelons of Kenyan society are dominated by Moi’s children. Jubilee is rebirth of Moism—his despotism, corruption and incompetence. In Moi’s canonization, they seek their own redemption.

Kaberere was in my year. Oduor was couple of years ahead of us. By that time, he was in Kamiti.

I wish moi succeeded in killing all those evil thieves of 1963-1978. I also wish he beheaded every single one that tried to overthrow him.

Moi’s wild clampdown on students’ divergent opinion left a legacy to date for local universities in how badly student affairs are mismanaged. Consequently, KE academic institutions continue to produce a citizenry that cannot demand nor organize for their rights from the State.

I've just discovered that I'd held my breathe while reading these acts of injustice to our educated Kenyans; only to breathe out heavily after I'm through. Quite well researched. It shows what semi illiterate leadership can do to a progressive country. So sad

Many of those Airforce soldiers who survived detention later committed suicide, the torture may have affected them psychologically.

Idda was a teacher. Moi wanted her sacked. KNUT would not give in. She was promoted to an education officer from where she was sacked

Many may also not know that buses were dispatched to Moi’s rural home areas to pick any personnel for key parastatals’ jobs regardless of one’s qualifications. These resources, many unqualified ruined Post & Telecoms, Kenya Power and many. Some still work there.

Very informative, "The evil that men do lives after them; The good is oft interred with their bones; So let it be Moi."

Sad how Moi acquired shares in many local listed companies that continue to annually pay him dividends in billions to date. They previously belonged to the State, and he just grabbed them and converted the shares to himself. Sad.

Ouko and i shared same neighborhood at koru, his death was painful and horrible, can remember like it was yesterday, Moi was a killer. Unfortunately his brightest student is keeping the same star shinning.

Some still seek to ride on sympathy even thru Moi's death. If u didn't haven't the voice during his times on earth it's fruitless now.We rem the good deeds, yes the bad too for lessons in future. Not to judge like you want to.Keep your negativity to yourself. #MoiBodyViewing

1.A good history of our dark days. But Oduor Ongw'en has avoided writing about Titus Adungosi with other students they betrayed. After Adungosi and other students were jailed Mwandawiro Mghanga became the Sonu chairman and Oduor Ongwen the Secretary General.

WHAT LESSONS DO WE LEARN: As current and future leaders, faced with the same scenario as Daniel, with the realities of the 80's, what would have been in the best interest for Kenya? NB:We are electing clowns in serious public office.

Such a nice read, was hoping to also see Prof Wangari Maathai's torture and Robert Ouko's assassination. Man learns that he doesn't learn from History 😥

I remember as one of the Sonu student leaders, around late 1983 early 1984, we passed a resolution to give each family of the detained student some money, about 100k each. I don't remember these families receiving any money. Instead Mwandawiro and Ongw'en went on tour in Europe.

This is just good history what we need in Kenya is to acknowledge what harm Moi legacy taught us and intern it with his bones. Tribalism, Cronisym, State capture, bribery, tenderprenuership, land grabbing,
