Modern humans settled in Northern Europe just 42,000 years ago, from sunnier latitudes.
Darker skin in less sunny latitudes isn't ideal: UV can't penetrate deeply so Vitamin D becomes deficient in winter.
But this is only a slight detriment really. We would expect fully pale skin to take a LONG time to evolve given this merely slight selection pressure.
A tanned 10k year old Belgian is perfectly plausible.

This is absolutely batshit insane.
In the tradition of speaking truth to power and with the best intentions possible, I have to say that this is a travesty, not a success. If @SheffieldGreens had not asked to be dropped as a target seat @TheGreenParty could have 5 MPs today. In May 2024 Sheff Greens were predicted to gain 37% of the vote in Sheffield Central and could have had much more if they had campaigned after the candidate selection in Sept 2022. Spiteful authoritarians have free rein in the party. 10 people expelled so far, including one for just talking to me at a market! Bullies using unfair unconstitutional tactics are ruining the local party and missing a great opportunity to win an MP. Most of the people who voted for @TheGreenParty in Sheffield are unaware of the nastiness currently inside the local party. I want Greens to do well, but right now, the wrong people are being purged. I hope action will be taken to stop the appalling treatment of good people.
