One of the biggest culture shocks when I first got to America happened at my first job. I met a coworker at the vending machine trying to buy a can of soda, but he was a quarter short. I offered to give him a quarter, and he gladly took it, promising to repay it the following day—which I thought was absurd for just 25 cents. I thought he was playing.
The next day, bro was waiting for me by the entrance with a quarter in his hand. I told him to keep it, but he refused. I eventually accepted the money and thanked him.
The events replayed in my head throughout the day. May God continue to bless America.
