Society of Indian Defence Manufacturers (SIDM), in association with DGQA, successfully organised the first chapter of the quarterly Defence Industry Interactive Dialogue on 17 September 2026, bringing together senior DGQA officials and around 200 defence industry participants, including Tier-1 firms, mid-size companies, MSMEs and startups. In his special address, Shri N. Manoharan, DG, DGQA, outlined key #DGQA initiatives to improve Ease of Doing Business, enhance information availability on the DGQA portal, green channel certification, simplification of self-certification, clarity in QA responsibilities, ATP-related guidance, concurrent inspection practices, and progress on DTIS. In a milestone towards promoting indigenous design, development and manufacturing in the aerospace and defence sectors, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) handed over two Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas Final Operational Clearance (FOC) Twin Seater Trainers & three HTT 40 Basic Trainers to the Indian Air Force (IAF), and four Dhruv Next Generation (NG) helicopters to Pawan Hans Limited (PHL) in the presence of Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh and Minister of Civil Aviation Shri K Rammohan Naidu in Bengaluru, Karnataka on 18 September 2026. In his address, Raksha Mantri described the handing over as a significant milestone in the nation’s progress towards indigenous aerospace capability, technological self-confidence and self-reliance. He stressed the need to advance systematically in the aerospace sector. Terming R&D as a crucial priority area, Raksha Mantri urged young scientists, engineers, designers, test pilots, and technicians to take it as a challenge to create technologies that do not exist today. Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh unveiled key policy initiatives during ‘VIMARSH’, a DRDO-Industry Synergy Meet, centered on the theme ‘Varta se Vikas’, in New Delhi on 15 September 2026. The initiatives include a comprehensive framework to lower technical and financial entry barriers for MSMEs & deep-tech start-ups, offering direct funding, incubation support and dedicated access to DRDO testing facilities. The flagship event was attended by over 250 defence industry leaders, industry chamber representatives, senior civil and military officials and senior DRDO scientists.
