L’ex capo dei servizi segreti esteri tedeschi, August Hanning, è stato arrestato con accuse gravissime: spionaggio e trasmissione di segreti di Stato a servizi d’intelligence stranieri. Queste accuse delineerebbero un grave tradimento: quello di un funzionario dello Stato che avrebbe dovuto difendere la sicurezza nazionale della Germania, non comprometterla.
Secondo la procura di Amburgo, nel 2023 Hanning avrebbe organizzato, insieme all’ex capo dello Shin Bet, il servizio di sicurezza interna israeliano, una squadra di agenti israeliani incaricata di rapire con la forza i figli di una miliardaria tedesca.
Vale la pena ricordare le parole del cancelliere Merz: Israele fa «il lavoro sporco per tutti noi».
Intanto, Germania e Italia continuano a bloccare la sospensione delle disposizioni commerciali dell’accordo di associazione tra Unione europea e Israele e le misure sanzionatorie proposte. Eppure, il rispetto dei diritti umani è una condizione fondamentale di quell’accordo.

We remember the young lives cut short at a music festival. And the long ordeal of the hostages.
The EU stands with all those whose lives were forever changed by that day.
The unspeakable savagery and terror of 7 October must never happen again.
The EU remains ready to help turn today’s fragile ceasefire into a durable peace, based on a two-state solution.
And remains equally convinced that nothing justifies terror.
