Delta Gold CEO R. Michael Jones and Professor Kenneth Knappenberger, principal investigator of our @penn_state university programme, are in Washington this week for meetings with US 🇺🇸 government officials on progress towards a hybrid quantum information and sensing platform built from nano-scale gold.
Research at MIT, work at 3M, and appointed Director of the University of Toronto’s Centre for Nanotechnology in 1997.
Meet Professor Harry Ruda, leading Delta Gold’s @UofT research programme. 🧵👇

Professor Ruda has more than 250 publications in internationally refereed journals, four co-authored books and 14 patents.
That combination of scientific depth and experience translating research into intellectual property is particularly relevant to Delta Gold’s model.

Quantum computing is moving from scientific possibility towards real-world impact.
Following last week’s London screening with NQCC, watch The Quantum Revolution: Why It Matters — a short film exploring the science, challenges and opportunities shaping the quantum future.

Stability and scale are the problem every qubit faces. @QuantumDaily looked at whether nano-scale gold changes that.
Their verdict: "a contender the field will find increasingly hard to overlook." Research stage, not yet a device.
How two research teams and a London based quantum hardware company are betting nanoscale gold can crack the stability-scalability problem that has stalled every other qubit platform.
@DeltaGoldTech is running two parallel research programmes, with Penn State University and the University of Toronto, betting that nanoscale gold can crack the trade-off between qubit stability and scalability that has constrained every existing hardware platform.

New from @QuantumDaily on where nano-scale gold sits among quantum modalities:
"On the evidence assembled so far, they are a contender the field will find increasingly hard to overlook."

The work: gold clusters tuned by chemistry at Penn State (Prof. Kenneth Knappenberger) and engineered gold layers at the University of Toronto (Prof. Harry Ruda). Research stage, not yet a device. Three full patent applications and one provisional filed.
More than 100 peer-reviewed papers, more than 300 lectures, and an elected Fellow of both the AAAS and Optica.

For Delta Gold, partnerships like this provide access to specialised academic expertise at the frontier of quantum materials research.
Behind every patent application is the science — and behind the science are researchers pushing the boundaries of what these materials can do.

We split the research on purpose.
The hard problem in #quantum computing is not building one clever piece. It is getting that piece to talk to the rest of the system without falling apart.
That is the work in @UofT
The programme is the electrical side of our strategy. It has already produced an invention we licensed, and a provisional patent has been filed.
@PSUScience is the other half of the same bet, approached from a different direction. We funded both because we want more than one path to a system that can actually scale.
