25 years after September 11, 2001, we are still learning what the words “Never Forget” ask of us. For millions of Americans, September 11 is a memory. For a growing generation, it is history. Now, remembering requires focus and intention.
To never forget means remembering those we lost. Remembering the courage of the first responders. Listening to the stories of those who were there. And, remembering what happened next.
People came together. They gave blood. They offered shelter. They looked after neighbors and strangers alike.
In one of our nation's times of greatest need, our common humanity proved stronger than our differences.
Never forget. Not simply as words we say, but as a promise we keep in how we serve one another, how we care for one another, and how we remember, together. Every day.
