Tragedy as Twin Sisters, Doctor and Pharmacist, D+e Days Apart After Sickle Cell Complications In Yobe
A Nigerian medical doctor, Dr Hadiya Usman Abdullahi, and her twin sister, Pharmacist Aidah, have reportedly d+ed within days leaving their family and colleagues devastated.
Dr Hadiya, a Medical Officer in the Haematology Department of Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Nguru, reportedly d+ed on Friday, October 2, 2026, after being admitted to the hospital for about a week following a sickle cell crisis.
Her twin sister, Aidah, who was a pharmacist, had reportedly been hospitalised at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH) around the same period. She was said to have recovered and been discharged.
However, according to a family-related account, Aidah later visited her twin sister’s grave. She reportedly fainted after the visit and was rushed to a hospital, where she sadly d+ed.
The de@ths have sparked an outpouring of grief among their colleagues, friends and loved ones, with tributes describing the loss of both sisters within such a short period as particularly painful for their family, especially their mother.
The Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) also mourned Dr Hadiya, describing her de@th as a profound loss to FMC Nguru, her colleagues, family and the wider medical community.
