Vučić’s defeat is not proof that autocrats can be beaten under normal circumstances. When students must abandon their classrooms to save their country, that’s not democracy working as it should—it’s proof of how extraordinary & abnormal things must become for an autocrat to lose.

In his latest anti-EU rant, Vučić attacked the @Europarl_EN election observation delegation, calling its head, @Schieder, a “crook” and claiming the entire delegation “despises Serbia.”

The latest EC accession papers signal a major shift for Serbia's EU path. Brussels is making it clear that Belgrade must fundamentally reconsider its strategic pivots to both Moscow and Beijing if it wants to move forward. ⬇️

In Kosovo's case, the accession paper is so forward-looking that it already ponders the end of EULEX and the future of the financing of the Special Court in The Hague.

Very clear wording by VDL: "Nothing and nobody can rewrite Kosovo's history. 1999 is engraved in Europe's collective memory: the violent repression, the humanitarian crisis, the suffering endured by your people. The European Union has stood with you ever since." She continues…

"EU is shocked" S7E13.
The images from Ratko Mladić’s funeral yesterday in Belgrade were shocking. Ratko Mladić was a convicted war criminal. He was responsible for genocide, war crimes, and crimes against humanity. He died while serving a life sentence for the Srebrenica genocide and other crimes. The elements of official support and the presence of some senior Serbian officials at the funeral are deeply regrettable. They demonstrate a failure to confront a dark chapter in Europe’s recent history and contradict the values underpinning Serbia’s path towards the European Union. Our thoughts are with all the victims of the crimes committed in the countries of former Yugoslavia.
