He said countless times that he was going to end the war in 24 hours, and then started repeatedly claiming he was going to end the war as president-elect. Whenever it was pointed out that his plans were bereft of detail, armies of MAGAs explained that we just had to trust his superior negotiating tactics, and not be so rude as to request any actual policy detail. Now we finally get some policy detail, and it turns out the plan is to sign a long-term funding agreement with Ukraine, continue supply of US weaponry, and sign off on some hazily-defined French and British "peace-keeping" force -- meaning the deployment of NATO troops to Ukraine. Isn't that what Russia invaded in the first place to prevent?
