Mount Kenya Must De-Oath to Build a Genuine Union with the Luo. ​Political alliances in Kenya cannot be built on superficial handshakes while the deep-seated grievances of history remain unaddressed. For decades, the political relationship between Mount Kenya and the Luo community has been defined by tactical convenience rather than true reconciliation. If the leadership of Central Kenya genuinely desires a lasting political union with Nyanza, it must go beyond backroom deals and confront the historical shadows that continue to dictate political attitudes. The demand for "de-oathing" is not merely about an ancient ritual, it is a fundamental demand to dismantle the institutionalized distrust and toxic political narratives engineered in 1969/70s to isolate an entire community. ​Forging a viable partnership requires complete honesty and mutual respect. Asking the Luo community to enter into political unions while the lingering ideological and cultural stigmas of the past remain intact is an insult to history. When modern politicians preach political isolation, treat state power as an exclusive regional dividend, or assume they can marginalize Nyanza without consequence, they are drawing directly from a dangerous playbook. The lessons of 2007 taught this nation the catastrophic cost of systemic exclusion. A hand extended in friendship must be matched by a complete, public repudiation of the biases that were used to sow divisions the two communities. ​If Mount Kenya wants a meaningful, equal partnership with Nyanza, it must level up. Real unity cannot exist where one partner demands deference or holds onto historical prejudices. True political integration requires a deliberate, grassroots effort to strip away decades of political vilification and replace it with unconditional respect for every Kenyan's democratic rights. Until Central Kenya actively disarm the psychological barriers erected decades ago, any proposed alliance will remain built on sand, vulnerable to the same collapse that has cost this country so dearly in the past. #copied

The Government is investing in the empowerment of young people, particularly in rural communities, by expanding access to technical and vocational education that equips them with practical and marketable skills for the modern economy. Construction of the Student Village at Ebunangwe Technical and Vocational College (TVC) in Emuhaya, Vihiga County, is part of this effort, providing purpose-built accommodation to support the institution's growing student population. The college currently has 120 students and nine staff members, three of whom are from the Government. Located deep in a rural village, the 340-bed facility, being developed under the Affordable Housing Programme (AHP), will serve not only as a hostel. Its ground floor will provide shops, a mini-mart, laundry services and food outlets, creating a small commercial centre around the college. The facility will also have a borehole, powerhouse, underground water tank, CCTV surveillance and a lift. The project demonstrates the Government's continued commitment to inclusive development, ensuring major investments reach communities far beyond urban centres. The State Department for Internal Security and National Administration complements such investments by supporting coordination with local stakeholders and promoting a safe and orderly environment around institutions, construction sites and emerging economic centres, enabling communities to benefit from development in a secure setting.
