This is my last episode of Ditch the Labcoat. And somehow, my final guest wrote a book telling me to stop looking for what comes next.
When I started this podcast three years ago, I had a goal:
52 episodes. One year.
Reasonable.
Then 52 became more than 100.
Along the way, I got to sit across from physicians, scientists, athletes, researchers, writers, patients, founders and people whose lives had given them something worth saying.
It became one of the most fulfilling projects I've ever taken on.
But here's the peculiar thing about a podcast.
Nobody tells you when you're done.
There's no final patient on the list. No graduation. No finish line somebody else draws for you.
You have to decide.
And after more than 100 episodes, I did.
Which makes my final guest, Livia Grujich almost comically well timed.
Livia is an entrepreneur, educator, speaker and author of Stop Searching for Next: What if the Life You're Chasing Is the One You're Already Living?
She spent 14 years building and leading a successful marketing agency before her curiosity about human behavior eventually turned inward.
👉 Why do capable, accomplished people still feel behind?
👉 Who decided what success was supposed to look like?
And perhaps the question I needed for episode 100-something:
👉 Can you stop doing something you love without treating the decision like failure?
We talked about ambition, motherhood, identity, perfection, the strange pressure to keep achieving, and what happens when life forces you to pause long enough to notice what you've already built.
I couldn't have planned a more appropriate final conversation.
Maybe that's fitting too.
After three years spent asking people questions, Ditch the Labcoat ends with one worth sitting with:
What if the next thing you need isn't next at all?
