If you are a therapist who is independently wealthy, has generous parents, or a working spouse, it’s a lot easier to donate your expertise for discount prices. Our guild isn’t attracting more talented people who don’t already have resources because these are the offers.

It was the same in the 90s for social workers which is why the plan for a lot of us in grad school was do the two years of supervised work at a clinic to get the independent license and move into private practice-
