The Los Angeles Dodgers mourn the passing at age 91 of Fred Claire, whose three decades with the franchise reached their pinnacle as the general manager of the 1988 World Series Champions. We send our deepest condolences to his wife Sheryl and children Jeff, Jennifer and Kim.

Met him at Phoenix Muni back in the 80s getting autographs. Listening to the Dodgers game from back East on then local Phoenix radio. Probably KTAR? He stopped listened to the game talking to me in the runway. He helped me get Dukes autographs. Nice guy.

Prayers to Fred Claire's family. Three decades with one club says a lot about the man.

I vividly remember him. He’s the one who helped to build the 1988 world championship team. He was brought in after a scandal hit the Dodgers on live television.

RIP for one of the most underrated GM’s of all time. Always respected his leadership. Walking away from his position when Piazza was traded against his will took strength & although I didn’t agree I respected his decision to do so.

My sincerest thoughts go out to the Claire family. I so admire him for his work with the Dodgers. The memorable year 1988 I can relive every time the documentary is shown on Dodgers channel ❤️💔

I was very grateful and thrilled that he answered my letter to him by Wet inking his signature. I wanted to be a ball boy back in 86-87.
