Trump wants to steal the midterms, and lunatics like Russ Vought would absolutely be willing to help him do it. Vought is the nut who said: "I don't want President Trump having to lose a moment of time having fights in the Oval Office about whether something is legal or doable or moral." You will find a similar sentiment at Heritage and Claremont. The Trumpian right doesn't recognize constraints anymore. It sees itself as being in an existential battle, and if winning means depriving the majority of Americans of the ability to vote against Trump's party, then that is what these people will do. It doesn’t have to be compelling or even convincing. If Trump wants them to help him fabricate some justification for upending our elections, they’ll do it, and conservative media will defend it.
Trump shouts out Russ Vought and then says, ominously, "we have some big surprises coming up in a few weeks, right Russ? He's gonna be one of the important people in the history of our country."
