At this point, I’m convinced .xyz is one of the greatest hype scams ever successfully sold to domain investors. And I’m about to prove it by doing exactly what the scam depends on: Paying another damn $517.70 renewal. I’ve spent close to five figures buying and renewing Luxury dot xyz because I was sold a fantasy about the extension becoming the future of Web3, AI, startups, digital identity, luxury brands, and whatever other buzzword was being pumped that week. Do I believe luxury. xyz should cost $517.70 every year just to keep existing? Hell NO Am I renewing it anyway? Of course I am. Because the second I let it drop, the domain mafia will catch it, recycle it through another round of fake scarcity and manufactured prestige, slap a ridiculous price tag on it, and call it a premium digital asset. That is the genius of the racket. They don’t even need you to believe the domain is worth the renewal anymore. They only need you to be terrified that some intangible ass criminal will grab it, launder it through hype, and try to sell your own bad decision back to you for six figures.
