EBC-MAIN did not meet the superiority goal in the context of lower than anticipated events and treatment effect in the control arm, which are two conditions that may have shifted the results towards neutrality. Several differences exist between the EBC-MAIN and DK-CRUSH V trials.
These both were really challenging cases in patients with poor LV function - and randomized. This trial will truly test whether Impella CP mechanical circulatory support during high-risk PCI is safe and improves long-term outcomes.
