This is believed to be due to biological and behavioural paths. Optimistic people have less anxiety and stress, and are less likely to have chronically high cortisol. Optimistic people tend to have healthier behaviours, such as regular activity, better nutrition and no smoking.
Approximately 1 in 10 seniors have dementia. While there is no cure, addressing a number of common risk factors and health behaviours can dramatically lower your chances of getting dementia later in life.

Exercise helps prevent gestational diabetes.
A meta-analysis found supervised exercise reduced chances of gestational diabetes by 26% and chances of high birth weight in the baby. The equivalent of moderate walking 140 min/wk was all that was needed. Link below.
