The Nazis accused the Jews of having greater loyalty to their Jewish identity than to the nations where they resided. The same accusation is still repeated today by the antisemites. But whether that is true or not, it doesn't really matter, because even if Jews prioritized Israel over the nations they live in, the most they want for Israel is for it to be strong and protected so that Jews can be safe and protected. They do not want Jewish halakha to replace the Constitution, nor do they want to establish the rule of Hashem over the countries in which they live. However, Muslims, their Islamic identity is the only identity they recognize. National identity for any faithful Muslim is a temporary identity. Islam overrides nationalist sentiment and recruits Muslims to serve its universal agenda at the expense of the national interest. A Muslim whose loyalty is to Islam is not merely concerned with the security of some small Islamic state in a way that can coexist with his national identity. His loyalty is to a universal political and religious project that seeks to transform the society in which he lives completely. A Jew loyal to Israel does not threaten anyone’s freedom. A Muslim loyal to Islam is a threat to the tenets of Western civilization. And the fact that the Nazis described the Jews this way doesn’t mean we can’t describe Muslims this way. Because even if this is true of both groups, only one group’s loyalty to something other than the national interest of the country in which they live poses a threat to that country.
