Governor Adeleke Hails Osun’s NECO Performance, Promises More Investment in Education OSOGBO - 29/09/2026 Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has hailed the state’s strong performance in the 2026 National Examinations Council (NECO) Senior School Certificate Examination, describing the result as a positive reflection of ongoing efforts to reposition education in the state. Osun placed fifth nationally in the 2026 NECO ranking, with 74.31 per cent of candidates recording at least five credits, including English Language and Mathematics. While congratulating the students, teachers, parents, school administrators and other stakeholders, the governor noted that the state performance has been improving within a single digit rating for three consecutive years namely 2024, 2025 and 2026. “Osun has moved from 33rd position in the 2022 NECO ranking to 5th in 2026, while improving its pass rate to 74.31 per cent. This is encouraging, and it shows that our sustained interventions in the education sector are yielding positive results,” the Governor said. Governor Adeleke said the improved performance reflects his administration’s deliberate investment in the education sector, including the recruitment of additional teachers to strengthen the teaching workforce, while prioritising workers’ welfare and creating a more conducive environment for effective teaching and learning across public schools. The Governor said the performance reinforces his administration’s determination to continue investing in education, noting that the objective is to build a system that gives every Osun child the knowledge, skills and opportunities needed to succeed. “This result is encouraging, but we see it as a reason to do more. We will continue to invest in our schools, improve the learning environment, support our teachers and provide our students with the necessary tools to excel. “We are building an education system that prepares our young people not only for examinations but for life,” the Governor said. He assured that ongoing interventions in the education sector would be sustained and expanded, while urging students to remain committed to their studies. His Excellency also commended teachers across the state for their dedication and sacrifices, assuring them that the administration would continue to prioritise measures that strengthen the education system and improve workers’ welfare. OSUN EMERGES TOP 5 STATES IN LATEST NECO RANKING Osun state has made history by emerging top 5 states in 2026 NECO examination, up from 7th position attained in 2024 and 2025. In 1982, Senator Ayoola Adeleke (UPN, Oyo) campaigned for the creation of Osun State out of the then Oyo State. Osun was eventually created in 1991, and his son Isiaka Adeleke became its first civilian governor in 1992. His other son, Ademola Adeleke, is the current governor.

Adewale Olumide Egbedun, at the 21st Annual Adult Harvest and Thanksgiving Service of CCC Jerusalem Cathedral, Alarin, Oke-Odo, Inisa. Themed “Harvest of Blessing,” the service was an opportunity to thank God for His faithfulness, the peaceful conclusion of the Osun State Governorship Election, and to pray for continued peace and prosperity in our state. I attended alongside Hon. Biola Awoyeye of Ife Central, Hon. Mayowa Anjorin, Commissioner for Environment, Hon. Aderibigbe Abdulrasheed Kayode, Commissioner for Home Affairs, Hon. Adewale Adeyinka, Chairman Odo Otin, Hon. Aina Abayomi, Chairman Boluwaduro and other dignitaries and royal fathers. I conveyed the Speaker’s warm greetings to the church and joined the congregation in thanksgiving and prayers for Osun State.

Governor Adeleke Hosts Investors on Sports Industry, Restates Commitment to Industrialisation of Osun State LONDON - 27/09/2026 Governor Ademola Adeleke today hosted a team of investors focused on sports industry development in Osun state, restating his commitment to the transformation of the state from civil service to an industrialised subnational entity. The governor gave the assurance while hosting the investors led by Dr Bob Olukoya, Country Director, Alive and Kicking Nigeria Limited and Mrs Joanne Macrae, a Director, Amos Sports Business School, London and Business Development Director, Alive and Kicking Nigeria Limited at his London residence. The governor narrated the investment friendly policies and programmes of his administration and assured the investors that the Osun Free Trade zone is ready for investors with excellent ease of doing business. Accompanied by the Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Rev Bunmi Jenyo, the Governor directed the ministry to treat with urgency the submission from the Alive and Kicking firm, assuring that Osun is in a hurry for industrialisation. Speaking earlier, Dr Olukoya and Mrs Macrae had told the state governor that their company is interested in building a factory for production of football to service the massive football needs of Nigeria, Africa and the whole world. The team noted that the ministry has already treated its application for a land space at the Osun State Free Trade Zone and that preparation is already in top gear for commencement of work on the allocated site. The team further told the governor that it has finalised a football talent academy to train and develop young Osun footballers for participation in local and international leagues. The firm while explaining huge opportunities that abound in the field of sport business promised to submit detailed proposal on the talent hunt idea.
