I am really enjoying reading these sermons from Charles Spurgeon.
This is from his sermon on November 04, 1877. It rings so true.
"Brethren, we never know, when God blesses us, how much blessing He is incidentally bestowing upon others. It may be that even our conversion had a far-reaching but very distinct connection with the conversion of others. Grace smiles upon its personal subject, but its object reaches beyond the private benefit of the individual."

This statement is for BOTH sides!
"It is easier to full the fool than to convince them they have been fooled!"
Why??
1. Pride & Ego!! Admitting you were fooled hurts your image of self as a smart and rational person.
2. Cognitive Dissonance!! When new facts clash with your beliefs, the brain feels deep mental discomfort and rejects the truth in order to protect Pride & Ego!
3. Confirmation Bias!! People will always seek out information that supports their beliefs even if it is factually WRONG!
So how do you avoid this??
It's pretty easy!
You have to have a personal relationship with God! Ask him daily to bless you with Wisdom & Discernment!
