📚 Some of the most valuable learning starts with a difficult decision. When it comes to congenital aortic valve surgery, deciding between repair, the Ross procedure, or replacement is often complex. Factors like the patient, their age, available evidence, and long-term outlook all play a role. Even experienced surgeons can take different approaches in similar cases. This is the main focus of the Surgical Management of Congenital Aortic Valve Disease and Aortopathies course. 🏆 Celebrating the winner of the 2026 MMCTS Residents’ Tutorial Competition! Congratulations to @ahmedawadmd, @daniel_ragheb, Gösta B. Pettersson, Nicholas G. Smedira and @HElgharablyMD for their winning tutorial: “Infective endocarditis with aortic root abscess and septic coronary occlusion: Aortic allograft implantation and DOR ventriculoplasty in a redo-operation.” The annual competition, a collaboration between EACTS and the Thoracic Surgery Residents Association (TSRA), enables residents to contribute to surgical education by creating high-quality core-skills video tutorials. Entries are recognised for their surgical skill, technical quality and educational clarity.
