The federal Liberal government recently introduced Bill C-39, which would give the government new and expanded powers to intervene and shut down legal strikes. No government should have sweeping power to decide when workers can exercise their fundamental right to strike. NEW: Education Unions say they will have a "proportional response to the challenging times" in education. "We will only take action that needs to be taken in order to get this government to move off of their trajectory," says ETFO President David Mastin. The union points to what they call historic cuts, neglect and undervaluing of the education system. Mastin adds: "We are hoping to avoid work action and it might very well be that a big strike mandate sends a message to the government." #onpoli
