On the morning of 15th of December 2014, Katrina Dawson walked into the Lindt Cafe in Martin Place, Sydney for a quick coffee with her friend Julie Taylor. Julie was five months pregnant. Katrina was 38, a barrister, a mother of three. Twenty minutes turned into a hostage siege. A terror attack. Hours in, the gunman appeared to offer Katrina a way out. Just her. She wouldn’t leave without Julie. He said no. One or none. So she stayed. On the floor next to her pregnant friend, keeping her calm through sixteen hours of terror, in a room with nowhere to hide. When police stormed the cafe in the early hours of the 16th, Katrina was sadly fatally shot by fragments from the gunfire. She died behind a chair, beside Julie, right where she’d stayed all night. Julie survived. She had her baby. Katrina was posthumously awarded the Bravery Medal. Her family started a foundation in her name that’s since funded scholarships for hundreds of women and girls. Great reflection, Les❤️ Yes, "maybe the world doesn't actually need absolute perfection from us..." I agree. And when writing my musing, I wasn’t thinking about perfection as a standard, or an "impossible ideal". Not at all. I was thinking more about how we see ourselves our own worth, and how we see others in this present moment. Because... When we appreciate ourselves as we are with ebbs and flows we all have... then we can genuinely see our own worth and see that we are not merely enough but actually more than enough... Perfectly perfect... in each moment as we grow, change and evolve each day in each moment... And I love your “perfect present” ❤️🎁

Beautifully said Izzy👏 But maybe the world doesn't actually need absolute perfection from us… Rarely is it about reaching an impossible ideal~ most of the time, "just enough" is the exact response the world needs & that is perfect! For us all to cherish our perfect present!🎁
