Upcoming Deadline! Nomination Deadline 30 September 2026. The EHS awards a prize of £1,000, on a biennial basis, for an outstanding book in Economic and/or Social History. The winner of the Outstanding Book Prize will be announced at the annual conference. #EHS100

Nominations are normally restricted to books published by authors who are more than 10 years beyond the award of their PhD, or who have previously published a monograph and are therefore no longer eligible for the First Monograph Prize.

Application Deadline Friday! 16:00 (UK), 11 September 2026. The EHS offers 12 part-funded places on an annual, intensive residential course designed to raise the quality and analytical rigour of doctoral dissertations. To be held this year 2–5 December 2026, at the Uni of Warwick

The course will also prepare postgraduates for the job market, improve their communication skills, widen their approach to their subjects and encourage them to form networks with established scholars and fellow students in their areas of expertise.

The EHS Research Fund for Graduate Students, next application deadline 1st November. The EHS considers applications for grants of up to £1,000 to help postgraduate students gather research data and source materials, including travel and accommodation expenses.
