I like how we’ve gone from “Zohran said he is going to disband the SRG and reign in the NYPD” to “Well you have to understand there’s just nothing he can really do as the head of the city the police are just such a strong force he has no control over them”. A joke of a shift.

This is true and this is a problem. While there are elements of truth to the statement that elected officials have relatively little power to resist the dictatorship of capital, these facts are not conducive to electoral strategy.

I feel like this isn’t true. I’m happy to be proven wrong with peer-reviewed studies* & not just vague “estimates” but in my personal experience & also hearing from other cc folks experience over the years, people are most contagious AFTER symptoms start.

This is from the CDC and I'd guess that it's based off of this review that looked at infectious viral load and symptom onset.
People with COVID-19 can be infectious from 1–2 days before and up to 8–10 days after symptoms begin. The majority of transmission appears to occur during the early periods of infection, particularly in the 1–2 days before symptoms start and within the first few days of symptom onset.

Raising the retirement age is good, actually. Not only does it improve solvency, but it encourages delayed retirement. The result is higher output, more wealth, and more overall healthiness and happiness. crfb.org/blogs/case-raising-…

Real tough bind for a lot of silent white men. If they speak up to defend the disabled or any other marginalized group, "normal" white society is like "look at this woke freak." If they join in on the mockery, they lose their only connection to non-depraved non-fascist society.

Part of the problem might be the fact that white professionals like Natalie believe they deserve deference from “real disabled people” and assume people who aren’t willing to kowtow to them aren’t really disabled. Breaking this down to “deference” is so close.

This is exactly part of the problem. It's almost entirely in bad faith against people with disabilities and people who are masking. If you push back on encroachment into our spaces, you're a wokescold. If you compromise and show up wearing your mask, you're a hypocrite.
