Jesus Raises a Widow’s Son.
As Jesus approached the town of Nain, He encountered a funeral procession. A widow had lost her only son and a large crowd was accompanying her as she mourned. Having already lost her husband, she was now facing another heartbreaking loss.
When Jesus saw her, He was moved with compassion and said, "Don’t cry."
He approached the coffin and touched it, causing the bearers to stop. Then He said, "Young man, I say to you, get up!" The dead man sat up and began to speak and Jesus gave him back to his mother.
The people were filled with awe and praised God. News of what Jesus had done spread throughout the surrounding region.
The widow didn't ask Jesus for help in this account. He saw her grief and responded with compassion. Before she could even express her pain, Jesus noticed her suffering.
Sometimes, we may feel that our struggles go unnoticed, especially when we don't know what to pray for or how to ask for help. This story reminds us of the compassionate heart of Jesus. He sees our pain & He is never indifferent to our suffering.
We may not always understand how He will work in our circumstances but we can bring our broken hearts to Him and trust His love.
Jesus sees the tears others may overlook and His compassion reaches us even in our deepest sorrow.
