Òlòkʋ́n the èdó divinity of the sea ——— Olokun in Benin Mythology and Cosmology is the primordial god of the sea, which based on èdó oral tradition his cult and worship originated from urhonigbe in the east of Benin Kingdom. In Benin the river ethiope is seen as the abode of olókun; and based on Bradbury from this river all water in the universe flow from [frame 1&2]. The èdó's in ancient time before their contact with ocean, the òlòkʋ́n river was considered the source and deepest water body in the region. This belief and the supernatural nature of the river earned the river the name òlòkʋ́n. Òkʋ́n —— The word okun in the èdó dictionary - Òkʋ́n- ɲ - ocean; also sea To understand the etymology of the term, is to base it on the Benin earliest view of the ethiope river as the source of all water bodies on earth, before eventually making contact with the ocean. ▪︎ kʋ́n - vb ~ To construct, to fashion something. ▪︎ Òkʋ́n - ɲ - the source or constructor of all water bodies on earth 'Òkʋ́n n'amẹ'. with the ò acting as a normaliza before the verbal term 'kʋ́n'. Melzian's dictionary attributed this form of construction through rope and strings — defining the flowing patterns of the stream from river ethiope to other tributaries. Òlé — the èdó term for embodiment or a descriptive owner.. - Olosẹ - the embodiment of beauty - Oletin - the embodiment of strength - Oleghan - a prisoner - Oliha - Ole + Iha - the embodiment or owner of iha divination. - Olé + Òkʋ́n – Oléòkʋ́n [rapid speech] ~ òlòkʋ́n - the embodiment or owner of the sea. The Benin mythology holds òlòkʋ́n as the first son of osanobua, brother of Obiemwen and Ogiuwu the goddess of childbirth and god of death. Bradbury associated the origin of the sea divinity to urhonigbe were the cult of òlòkʋ́n takes absolute root, before it spread to other part of the world. Within òlòkʋ́n worship there are more 200 other divinities; Imene, Akpowa, Igbaghon etc and the igbessa n'gbe n'uri – The 201 attendants in òlòkʋ́n's court. Ling Roth in his book Great Benin Kingdom it horror and custom was rather of the opinion the ughoton cult was the origin of òlòkʋ́n worship, which from over view urhonigbe was barely mentioned in his work, his field work on òlòkʋ́n was rather gathered from western edo areas and coastal yoruba region. ————— • Bradbury, Benin Kingdom and the Edo speaking people,c.1957 • An Edo Dictionary by Rebecca Aghayesi,c.1986.

The Ùlèlèfè 'Anthill' ——— Mud gotten from the ùlèlèfè are the only form of clay used in making god art in Benin Kingdom. An Ɔmɛbọ 'god artist' use the clay, with inspiration from the god he wants to make a physical model of. Hence the ùlèlèfè is also venerated as a god.
Òbadan Uhunmwonde Benin📌 Obadan was one of the few villages that hosted a highly concentrated benin military base, the numbers of warriors in the camp was estimated to be around Ten Thousand. As a conservationist the rainforest habitat of these areas should be protected by law.

Òbá Akenzua ll exchanging handshake with the Queen of England.. —Context— In 1956 after the coronation of the Elizabeth ll as the Queen of England, she embarked on a post coronation tour to all countries and colony under the British crown. One of which was Nigeria in the western part of Africa. As mandated Queen Elizabeth was expected to visit the colonial political administrators and political elites in all regions of the country, and their traditional rulers, in each regional capital. Ibadan was the capital of the Western region and every king in this region was invited to meet the queen there. Which they honored except Òbá Akenzua ll who turned down the invitation to leave Benin city to go see Queen Elizabeth ll in Ibadan. Which when the Queen found out she embarked on an impromptu visit to Benin city to go see the King. At the time Midwest wasn't a region yet and Benin wasn't a capital. The Benin airport at the time was still under construction, so it was sped up to accommodate the queen's arrival. Making Queen Elizabeth ll the first passenger to use the Benin airport. Òbá Akenzua ll eventually welcomed her at the airport and based on records she was frighten at first to come closer to the king, hence the king stretched his hand to her, as a form of welcome, and stooped based on height differences. The picture,c.1956 — captured these moment with Obafemi Awolowo and Prince Philip in the background, but never provided context, that the Queen left Ibadan to come see the Òbá in Benin, a visit that was never meant to happen.

Urhobos —— The oral history that Urhobo people migrated from Benin are all fallacies and shouldn't be taken seriously.. Ɛdo people; Okay alright 👌 Urhobo and Ijaws having issues on Urhobo speaking towns in bayelsa state.. —— Ijaws; this people are paternally ijaws and maternally Urhobos but they happen to speak ijaw [fallacious in all it sense] Urhobo; brought out intelligence report on this areas in Urhobo > based on the intelligence report, this people migrated from Benin to that area so they are urhobo people. 😆 me should I push the agenda I have in mind or allow them to continue..., but either way, we are the father that fathered your father.
You nor fit enter Gelegele till today or do anything, and you dey talk watch from afar as if you get anything to offer. Watch from afar and learn how Ijaws are handled. Maybe from there, una go develop bravery.

The oba didn't plan it... Ogiugo gave the head of obi oboro to chief imaran to present it to evbavba on his behalf, as he has promised his osun to make offerings to it first immediately he won the war, when he got home his beloved wife emokpo whom he inherited from his father told him how stupid that decision was, before he got to Benin, imsran had already claimed victory and the oba had giving him the entitlement of the war... When ogiugo came the case was opened but the chiefs were more with imaran cause he's an aristocrat in the city not ogiugo whose a warlord in the country side... Ugiugo felt betrayed but the chiefs weren't the oba he lost all hope and went back to Ugo, while in Ugo the issue was still in scrutiny and imaran committed suicide for his actions, and he was exonerated. . Chief Ologbose'e was sent to tell him the news, as a Benin Chief he's not allowed to say "imaran committed suicide" there is a code word for it, so Ologbose'e relayed the message to him through the code, but agbogidi didn't understand him, and didn't clarify... after Ologbose'e left, he became rebellious, Oba Akengbuda never wanted to descend on him but it was getting too much. Chief Ologbose'e against his own will was sent to bring his head to Benin city, it was in the fierce battle Emokpolo saw Ologbose'e and was demanding why the injustice, Ologbose'e told him ogiugo was exonerated and they don't know why he continued being rebellious... Twas here Emokpolo explained her husband wasn't aware, and Ologbose'e now understand his message wasn't rightly recieve, began to look for ogiugo in the battle field but in the other end overwhelmed by the Benin armies, ogiugo had went to Igbaghon river were he's forbidden to even visit, the same river that caused his deformity that made Emokpolo take him to oboro to treat, he drowned himself in igbaghon and died. Emokpolo was eventually taken to Benin city were she taught edo women the Eghughu-Agba dance..
