I think Iraola unfortunately made the same mistake a lot of new managers at their first big clubs make to start his tenure,which is to try to give everyone a fresh start to prove themselves.There's zero chance Schmadtke's midfield 4 survive last summer if Iraola was more seasoned
Liverpool have not put out a functioning balanced team out since Gravenberch decided he didn't want to be a 6 midway through 24/25. Then other things compounded & we never went back to fix the glaring issue of our pivot. It's the biggest fucking reason we are disjointed. [2/3]

At some point soon Liverpool are going to have to make choice between Wirtz & Szoboszlai. Either commit to Wirtz & sign him a proper double pivot or commit to Szoboszlai & shift to a 4-3-3 midfield with two 8s & sign a LCM 8 like Pablo Barrios & single pivot DM to complement him.

Every time Nyoni goes off the pitch, we lose all midfield control in the pivot. Every time Wirtz isn’t playing as the 10, we look toothless in attack without a connector and receiver in half spaces. Interesting dilemmas for Iraola’s 4-2-3-1, both are undroppable in this system.
