You genuinely have no idea how deep the rabbit hole goes. There's a documented case of a 7-year-old girl with 82 warts, present for over a year and unresponsive to every standard dermatological treatment. As a last resort, hypnosis was used. Under hypnosis, she was told the facial warts would clear before the ones on her body. Two weeks later, 8 of her 16 facial warts were gone, with no change anywhere else. After three more sessions, all 82 had vanished. And cases like this are more common than you would think.
Mentally imagining muscle contractions increased strength by 35% without physical exercise.

Over the years, dealing with all kinds of people, you learn to tell who's serious and who's all talk. And sometimes you can just feel it, who'll make it and who won't, even if you can't put it into words. Reminds me of that line from Once Upon a Time in America: "You can always tell the winners at the starting gate."

Anyone who is interested in the grand mysteries of the universe eventually comes across self-hypnosis; if Hermes Trismegistus was right when he proclaimed "THE ALL IS MIND" then where does the power of the mind end? It doesn't. The power of self-hypnosis can be used to reprogramme the mind and therefore your whole life. One example most are familiar with is the use of hypnosis to quit smoking. You are overcoming a physical addiction using the mind. Often these people have tried every other avenue but failed, and yet somehow, without any pharmacology they overcome it with a passive experience. Most of our doubts and inadequacies come from within, if you are able to let go of what the results might be and of any hesitation to the exercise, you can gradually reprogramme your mind to be free from these negative thought presets which have been running the overall direction of your life from the subconscious. As Jung studied for decades, it is the unconscious mind which dictates ones general direction of life. One of the most effective ways of reaching it is through rearranging the self-beliefs you hold but this is not something you can be convinced into or rationalised into believing. Belief is something that operates beyond the conscious mind, which is why the repetitive quality of hypnosis can have an actual impact on what you truly believe. Combined with a conscious effort of acting out this change you can reprogramme your whole character.
Self-hypnosis is easily one of the quickest ways to change your life, with many people seeing real results in just two to three weeks. To actually do it on yourself, lie down or sit somewhere quiet, close your eyes, breathe slow with longer exhales than inhales (like 4 in, 6 to 8 out), and slowly relax your body part by part from your feet to your head (using progressive muscle relaxation: briefly tense then completely release each muscle group from your toes up to your face as you exhale), then count down from 10 to 1 in your head, telling yourself with each number that you're going twice as deep, and once you feel heavy and relaxed, that's when you feed in the suggestion. The rules are simple: Say it in the present tense ("I am confident" not "I will be confident"), keep it positive ("I am financially secure" instead of "I am not broke," because the subconscious skips the "not" and focuses entirely on the mental picture of the problem, which is why "don't think of a pink elephant" makes you think of a pink elephant), make it vivid and emotional, see it as already happening, feel what you'd feel if it were already true, then repeat it, then count yourself back up from 1 to 5 feeling more awake and energized. The best times to do it are the second you wake up and the moment before you fall asleep because your brain is already halfway in that state naturally, which is exactly the window Émile Coué used in 1920s France with one phrase his patients repeated twenty times morning and night, "every day, in every way, I am getting better and better," and he had clinics full of people healing chronic conditions with it.

Our body is intelligent, you get a cut and it heals itself, if our mind is a mode of this same intelligence then it’s very possible that our conscious mind can affect the physical body in ways we would call supernatural.

I have an old book about medical hypnosis. They hypothesised that youre essentially telling the body to restrict blood flow to the warts via subconscious suggestion. Incredible stuff.

This is no shit. When I was a kid and any of us got a wart we had to go “sell it to grandpa” so we’d go see Pop and he’d tell us he’d buy the wart for a quarter and that it wasn’t a problem because he was old and warty anyway. It worked within days every time.

Why does "what would [X] do?" work so well? Because, for once, you consider what you would do without any emotion attached. What actually stops you is experiential avoidance, an actual term used in psychology for the mind avoiding not the thing itself, but the feeling it triggers. To disappoint people is to feel the guilt of putting yourself first. To fall short is to feel the shame of everyone seeing you fail. To get the life you wanted is to never feel secure, only afraid of losing it. To ask for what you want is to risk the rejection of putting yourself out there. To try something new is to feel the awkwardness of not knowing what you're doing. To depend on someone is to risk being betrayed by someone you trusted. To outgrow people is to feel the loneliness of leaving them behind. So the life you're living is shaped less by what you want and more by what you're avoiding feeling. That's what being stuck really is, the solution is there, but only on the other side of a feeling you avoid. But another person's mind carries none of your fears, so when you think through theirs, the choices you couldn't see are suddenly there.
Crazy how much better your life gets when you just ask yourself “What Would Peter Thiel Do” everytime you make a decision

To those who want a more detailed explanation on the topic
If you've ever seen a "decision tree" (attached, from Google) - it's very useful. Try to give probability %s to each step as you go for the best way to do it. But actually I find them extra interesting for explaning reality though, haven't found a better tool. Hear me out: Basically at any moment, there are countless decisions to be made & for each of them, there are countless possibilities of potential actions, etc etc. If you can map out all the possible decisions & the ones you actually made, you'll see that it's a LONG fucking tree and you've only followed a single thread, from one option to the other, and ended up at your CURRENT reality. With different decisions, actions and stuff happening - you could very well end up in a different reality. For better or worse. Now, these are obvious, nothing crazy. What's not so obvious and is actually crazy and is actually insanely valuable is.. If you're avoiding an emotion - at any moment, some % of the possible options are immediately removed from your pool of potential actions. So, objectively, you could take one of the 51 possible paths about a thing, which then would lead to other decisions/actions, etc. But since you don't want to feel abandoned, let's say - ANY OPTION that COULD possibly lead to that feeling of abandonment will be either deprioritized, or for most people just outright BLOCKED OUT by your unconscious mind. Objectively: 51 possible paths In actuality: 9 possible paths (because you avoid multiple emotions and don't go all in, thus the "comfortable" and "no-damage" paths are your only options - any other option for you is actually just a fantasy, because you're not able to/ready to feel them, handle them, embrace them, etc) Isn't that fucking crazy, when you think about it? You don't even realize how much you're leaving on the table unless someone (Mr CEOLandshark da Mighty Pyrate) puts it RIGHT in front of your fucking face. Right? It's not like you don't know about the best decision to be made, or the best course of action to be taken - it doesn't even matter. Realistically, there isn't even a "best" option out in the wild like that - it's not binary, at best it's a gradient. And you can never know at any point in time - what looked like the worst decision might turn out to be the best, and vice versa. That's why in the Ancient Greece they talked about "you never evaluate a man's life until he dies." - you never really know. The situation here is critical to understand. You are living a limited, blocked, capped, chained.. (whatever word you use here, anything negative goes) LIFE - simply because you're not willing to feel certain emotions. It's different for everyone and the dosage, timing, etc change vary. But that's your main task - to understand what you're avoiding and to live a life where you're jumping right into it. Do it little by little or go all in, doesn't matter - but you simply can't waste your life like this. Because again, imagine your life as a full decision tree. From birth to death, countless points you've jumped. I couldn't find it but WaitButWhy had a graph like that, from left to right. Imagine something like that but for YOUR fucking life. And then realize how a BIG MAJORITY of the potential paths are closed to you, simply because you're unwilling to feel certain emotions. Look, it's not like 14% of the potential paths are blocked. It's more like 92% of them are completely blocked to you - simply because of it. I need you to understand the severity of the situation.. And if you have more than double digit IQ, you already feel the doom about COMPOUNDING. Which is either the best ally or worst enemy of man. With each constricted, limited options you choose, you're bound, constricted, confined to an even MORE limited and constricted set of possibilities. You're basically wasting away countless possible alternative realities without even realizing. But there's only one thing that's certain: You'll die. We all do. So, what's the solution? I remember seeing WaitButWhy's pic (share it in the comments if you find it pls, I don't have time rn & don't have it saved) and feeling kinda bad. Realizing how many possible potential realities are already gone by, even though I'm in my 20s, was a bit tough. And the graph is so well. BUT - it's just nerdy wisdom porn. It doesn't give you anything, it doesn't empower you. It just mini-shocks you and that's it. Now, HERE's what will empower you.. If you could learn to embrace the emotions you've been avoiding your whole life, you actually gain your freedom back. Not only you're free from that confined-into-shitty-reality kinda negative compounding, but also you can make great choices, take the right action.. and all of that would (in sufficient time) result in you having a life that you couldn't even dream of. Isn't that amazing? And again, what's the ONLY thing life demands from you in order to give you your freedom + fate + power back? Ability/willingless to feel the emotions you avoid. You don't have to read another book, you don't have to figure out the "right choices", any excuse or to-do task can be put aside, you don't have to "fix" anything, you don't even need to understand anything.. NOTHING is required except THAT. Hell yeah. Isn't that amazing? God is great. Best of luck 🥂

neuroscientists discovered your brain believes whatever you think on repeat, and it doesn't care if it's true.
Community note
The cited 2021 paper studied the illusory truth effect: people rate externally repeated statements as more true because they become easier to process. It did not find that the brain automatically believes whatever you think internally on repeat, or that truth is irrelevant. pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov
