GOP before: "Trump will lower prices!" GOP now: "Higher prices are good, actually." Try telling farmers and small businesses who rely on trade with Canada, or families who will see higher prices that the pain will be worth it. Our economic well-being is not a negotiating chip.

NYS Senate GOP Leader Rob Ortt and US Rep. Mike Lawler (R) acknowledge the importance of Canadian trade to NY, but say tariffs are a negotiating tactic. “Whatever pain there may be early on will be worth it in the end,” Ortt said. He has concerns on illegal drugs and crossings.
