There have been many, many incidents of Iranian violence in the UK and against British targets around the world. Shaking hands with one of the architects or supporters of the violence is not representing the interests of the British people.

Andy Burnham wants to take Britain back to the 1970s, a time of more government control, more trade union control and no economic growth. There is a reason our country took a different course after that decade. Nothing Burnham announced today will do anything to fix Britain’s long-term problems. He had no plan to fix our stagnant economy. No plan to fund defence. No plan to sort out the spiralling welfare bill, beyond more government schemes. His proposal to change the triple lock is already falling apart under scrutiny, and it won’t generate enough savings to fund a nationalised care system for another two decades, which means more tax rises are inevitable. Britain does not need to recreate the politics of the 1970s. It needs a government prepared to take the difficult decisions, back those who work and build businesses, and look confidently to the future.

Coming on top of the #SFI shambles, the #FamilyFarmTax and the attack on our #pubs, is it any wonder rural communities feel this Labour Government is out to get them? Next they’ll be banning black Labs! 😐 Enough is enough. Rural Britain deserves better. 🇬🇧

This is great journalism by @gabriel_pogrund and the Sunday Times. If it wasn’t for their work we wouldn’t even know about this appalling scandal. I’ve been warning for some time that people are exploiting the system. Our laws, kindness and generosity are being used against us. It’s why we need to leave the ECHR -so we can deport those who arrive here illegally and strip British passports from naturalised citizens who commit these deeply serious offences.

We believe that if you can work, you should. Our plan gives people a safety net and a clear incentive to get a job.

Perhaps Ed Miliband could put as much effort into Britain’s international interests as he does to staging social media content. Chagos. The Falklands. Ukraine. Overseas prisoners. None of which he has very much to say about. This clearly staged interaction with American social media influencer Feroz Khan begs multiple questions. Why? What is the FCDO trying to achieve by doing this? And how much was Feroz Khan paid using British taxpayer’s money?

If you can work, you should. We must not borrow from our children to support people who refuse to work. That’s why we’ve announced a plan for a fairer welfare system: six months on Universal Credit to find work. After that, what you receive depends on what you’ve paid in👇

A strong country needs people to work and contribute. But Labour have made it easier to claim and harder to get a job.

Those who can work, should work. That’s why the next Conservative Government will cut benefits for those who refuse to get back to work and introduce a “Back to Work” card restricting what they can spend benefits on, saving taxpayers £538 million a year.

The Falkland Islanders want to remain British. They will. 🇬🇧

Ah. I see the problem here. The first line should have said "Piddington is not JUST an immigration issue". Stop getting your knickers in a twist over a typo. If it's not an immigration issue why am I talking about the ECHR and illegal arrivals in the same tweet? 🙄 If you'd actually been to Piddington, you'd know that putting 1300 men in a camp next to a village of 130 women IS also a women's safety issue.

Piddington is not an immigration issue, it's a women's issue. Everyone should feel safe in their home. But the women I spoke to in Piddington are terrified, and the Government isn't listening. Enough is enough. We need to leave the ECHR, deport all illegal arrivals and protect communities like Piddington.
