Optimism is sorely missing in the general public discourse surrounding AI and the future of humanity. Most pop culture depictions of the future shown a dystopian vision. While these warnings are important, they have seemed to traumatized people to fear technological progress.

1/ I am not sure most people realize how extreme Bernie Sanders’ new AI proposal actually is. The “Ban Artificial Superintelligence Act” goes far beyond ordinary AI regulation. It would permanently ban the development of superintelligence in the U.S. That is just the start. 🧵

"The most accurate criticism of AI companies, including Anthropic, is that we haven't yet delivered on our big promises to benefit the world." "The thing that will work is actually curing cancer," Dario added.
