ESCCC has long advocated for ending the rule that ties child care subsidies to the exact hours a parent is working. This waiver for NYC is a good start. Enacting this for the whole state by signing the bill doing just that would be even better!

Let's be clear: the child care workforce is among the lowest paid workers in our state. We will not be able to deliver universal child care without increasing compensation for the workforce.
Earlier, @NYSA_Majority Speaker Carl Heastie said while total revenue isn’t finalized, the final budget will not include additional $$ for the childcare workforce on top of Hochul’s $1.7B plan to expand universal pre-K and free care for 2-yr-olds in NYC.
