Putting Philosophy back in Ph.D. (Philosophiae Doctor)

The Hague, The Netherlands
All of philosophy can be reduced to counting to 3, in a sense. A unity self-differentiates into 2 aspects that form an apparent duality but are ultimately non-dual. Like a magnetic field (1) N pole (2) S pole, (3) the magnetic force at both poles is fundamentally the same.

In 1980, 21% of NIH-funded principal investigators were under age 35. By 2015, this proportion was 3%. The dramatic ageing of independent scientists is bad because old people are simply worse at science than young people. Latest meta-scientific deep-dive from me 🧵 ⬇️

Prioretize having fun over things that are less satisfactory. It's a tautology but, if you "have a lot fun" of you are more satisfied with your life.
Life satisfaction is highly consistent with personality traits. The top trait was "Have a lot of fun".

This is corny... why would I want a keychain Tamagotchi? If I can have an app on my phone that can have the same avatar, animation, and voice.
I really like where this is going. Zuck has the most e/acc vision of AI I've seen; personal superintelligence augmenting everyone is the way forward

Hegelian economics would have been sooo much better than Marxist economics, because he is all about infinities.

In science circles there’s not enough spirituality and in spirituality circles there isn’t enough science. It’s time to change this.

Palantír for the people
Introducing the US Gov Graph - a complete map of the people and positions of power in the federal government. To fix our institutions we must understand how they work, so we are using AI to model and monitor every government in America. This is Palantir for The People. Check it out here: graph.civlab.org/us We exist to set the conditions for an era of civic excellence unmatched since the Founding. We will need nothing less to navigate the age of AI. I'm looking for exceptional engineers and designers to work with me in San Francisco. If that's you, inquire here: tally.so/r/KY97RK. Self-governing civilization is counting on you.

This is true, but I’d add that meditation is how you train to you catch yourself in the moment.
Nobody tells you this: the single most transformative habit isn't meditation, exercise, or journaling. It's catching yourself mid-pattern and choosing differently. In real time. Not in reflection. Not in hindsight. In the actual moment. That micro-interruption is worth more than any morning routine.

This is so profound a paradigm shift in medicine. To exploit the fact that cells are goal-seeking, problem-solving systems in medicine, instead of looking at bodies as merely chemistry, only matter to matter interactions. (Skip to min. 44:24 in the vid) thoughtforms.life/a-talk-for…

At 44:24 he starts talking about the anatomical compiler. Most of the evidence to drive this vision is prior in the talk, watch it if this peaks your interest. To paradigm shift to bodies as a living substrate instead of juet matter is so simple it should have been obvious.

But it wasn't obvious because we saw all the parts as dead, only the whole body as alive. Michael Levin calls this "mind blindness". It looks like the parts of bodies are alive problem solving little agents and we were blind to this simple and obvious observation for 100s years.
