I'm anti-popular opinion. I don't believe anyone or a group of people have the power to dictate how I should live, think or behave as long as it doesn't endanger others. I think of myself highly and I'm unapologetic about it. Society hates it. Guess what? I don't care.

The conversation about Ronaldo becomes easier once you recognize he's not the regular Portuguese player. You know it. I know it. But it's impossible with you guys. Your general dislike for him completely skews your opinion about anything related to him; a prejudice only he suffers from. Players not at his level have done far worse without suffering public execution and character assassination. He [Ronaldo] is not the perfect person or ultimate role model, but the level of hate he's been subjected to is perplexing. Whatever happens, irrespective of public perception, he is the most influential footballer in modern history.

But he had a lot to say after the Norway game lol.
🚨🇵🇹🗣 Jorge Jesus on Cristiano Ronaldo's statements: "I read the statement. And now, as I do every day, I'm going to the Federation to work, to think about the team and the Portuguese National Team. I have nothing more to say."

Manchester City's financial saga is bigger than whether a club has a rich owner. It's about money, power, financial transparency, competitive fairness, and what football's rules actually mean when the stakes are this high. I wrote about it from that angle. beyond90minutes.substack.com…

🚨 Antonio Conte on his future: “There are many clubs that have somewhat lost sight of their history…”. “I’d like to go to one of these clubs to dust off that history and make it shine once more”, told @TheAthleticFC.

It's not far fetched: those currently against him didn't have the mental fortitude to fully understand and appreciate who and what he was to Manchester United. Since coming of age, they experienced Manchester United in their worst state since the 70s-80s. Needing to cling to something, they declared one of the worst captains in the club's history – and a player who is every bit a disappointment when the going is tough – their idol. Add to that: discrediting Cristiano Ronaldo adds to their social credit and acceptance. The good thing about history is that it keeps receipts; Cristiano Ronaldo will go down as the most influential footballer in modern football history, arguably sportsman, of all-time. Let the wailing begin.
There are more Ronaldo fans in the Chelsea and Arsenal fanbases than there are in the Manchester United fanbase. Arsenal and Chelsea never lost a Champions League final to Messi’s Barcelona. Manchester United lost two. Ronaldo never played for either Arsenal or Chelsea, but he played for Manchester United and led the club to the Treble, along with numerous collective and individual trophies during the most successful periods of the club’s history this century. I don’t have the answer yet, but there’s something inherently wrong with the Manchester United fanbase.

I have an opinion and I believe many people share the same. I feel like if you’re not playing regular football or doing well in your club, you should not be invited. Ndidi barely plays for Besiktas, sometimes he’s even an unused sub, I think he started only one game all season. Yet, he’ll he called and captain us. I watch loads of championship games, Osayi has not been good for Birmingham City this season, yet he was called ahead of Alebiosu. I have watched every of their games, you can never tell me Osayi has been better than Alebiosu. Lookman? Extremely poor for Atletico but he’s been played out of position at the start of the season which probably distorted his rhythm, you can excuse him maybe. Akor Adams? Just type his name on my timeline, the other day I was shouting, someone said he’s been good for Venezia. Moses Simon, these records are available if you don’t even watch, their last game he was an unused sub, he’s usually on the bench, barely plays. Nwabali just got a club recently, Maduka Okoye and Arthur Okonkwo are sitting on the bench for Nwabali. These are players playing at a very high level. Bruno Onyemaechi is chopping bench in Olympiacos, please go and check these things. Our number one left back is not a regular in Greek league not premier league o. What I’m trying to say is that, it is not fluke that we’re playing like this. These guys don’t play regular football. We should call those who play regularly, we should stop calling players based on name. Heaven will not fall if we don’t invite Ndidi or Simon. It is not coincidence that guys like Iwobi, Bassey, Ajayi are the only shining light in the squad, it’s not a fluke. It is because they’re playing regularly at a high level.

Maybe Oyiga should be playing a key role is recalibrating our league football at national level in collaboration with the NPFL.
While watching the Sporting Lagos vs Barau FC NPFL match yesterday, I couldn't help but look at what was happening around TBS with over 60,000 people lining up for the Black Market movie. I was actually part of the crowd that went to Onikan to watch the match and still went to the movie at TBS later in the day. Sixty thousand is truly a crazy number and it completely destroys the lazy narrative that Lagosians don't support events. Recently, We’ve seen an increase in local football attendance lately, which is great. But seeing 60k people turn up for a movie makes you realize that the gap isn't the setup as clubs already do great matchday packaging. I think it boils down to one thing: FOMO. Right now, an NPFL matchday is a great event, but a movie premiere or a major concert is an "unmissable culture moment." People go because they are terrified of being left out of the conversation. To hit that milestone, we have to transition the NPFL from a sporting event into a pop-culture phenomenon. It needs to become the place where you have to be seen on a weekend. When going to watch local football becomes the ultimate status symbol for Lagos youth; where the content creators, the fashion crowd, and the music heads all gather; the stadium gates won't even be able to hold the crowd. As a fan who truly loves this league, I’m open to ideas on how we build that level of cultural FOMO around our matches to move the NPFL forward. Or honestly, is trying to compete with the entertainment industry just a lost cause?
