Solo dev building @ZenSMS_App - a spam-filtering SMS app with 0 trackers, verified on Exodus Privacy.

Your telco bombards you with spam. Gambling ads. Scams. Phishing. Your SMS app? It just delivers it. No filter. No protection. Doesn't care. I got sick of it. So I looked for a better app.

Sending Instagram links over the Internet? You're exposing your Instagram account, whether you intend to or not. Fixing it is simple:

So these days, we have to be extra-extra-extra alert on what we browse for
We found a fake Apple site offering preorders for the iPhone Duo. But the real payload is DarkSword. Opening the scam page triggers an exploit on vulnerable iPhones. If successful, attackers can steal credentials, crypto wallets, Notes, photos, messages, contacts, and more.

This is Garrett Langley, the CEO of Flock Surveillance Cameras. Please DO NOT REPOST HIS IMAGE, because while his company wants to photograph you wherever you go,... and digitally store everything you do,... they themselves do not want to be photographed,... because they value their privacy.

Your texts can stay private while your texting app still tracks other things about you. That distinction is easy to miss. I wrote about what trackers actually do — and how you can check the Android apps you use: zensms.app/blog/what-are-tra…

Omg this is genius. It annoys the f out of me when people think this is normal behavior. Especially when they just put it on max volume. Like keep it to yourself its supposed to be private. Why do people even do this anyway?

This is exactly what bothers me about KYC. Companies demand passports, IDs, selfies, addresses and other permanent identity data just to use their service. Then when it leaks, what exactly are you supposed to do? Passwords can be changed. Your face, DOB and identity can’t.
Woke up to all my data leaked by @Revolut. Sharp reminder that KYC hasn’t produced meaningful upside and has put many in harm’s way.

Switching away from Google Messages is more complicated than changing an inbox: SMS/MMS and RCS are different systems. Your SMS/MMS can follow the Android system store; your RCS history and groups do not simply transfer. Full breakdown: zensms.app/blog/what-happens…

Genuine question for anyone who's subscribed to something on the 31st of a month. Does your renewal actually land on the 30th next month instead of the 31st? If so... you might be losing a full day of coverage every cycle and never noticed. 🧵

Meanwhile if you subscribed on the 21st, your renewal is apparently always the 21st. Fixed, no loss. Same subscription, same price, just a different outcome depending on which day of the month you happened to hit "subscribe."

I haven't confirmed this myself, this is honestly just one of those shower thoughts. If you subscribed on the 29th/30th/31st of any month: check your renewal history and reply with what you actually see. Prove me right or prove me wrong, I want to know either way.
