Ghana’s CISD 2026 just put every bank and fintech on notice.
Cybersecurity is now a board-level obligation; not an IT afterthought.
And yet 27M MoMo users. GHS 346M in annual fraud losses. Generic tools that weren’t built for how fraud actually happens in Ghana.
Digitization is outpacing security. CISD 2026 is the correction.
Ardevo was built for exactly this moment. 🇬🇭

One interesting Mobile Money fraud pattern I modeled in my detection engine is “structuring” (smurfing).
Instead of moving stolen funds in one large transfer, fraudsters often split them into multiple smaller transactions that sit just below common monitoring thresholds.
On its own, a single transaction may not look suspicious.
Combined with rapid transaction velocity and multiple destination wallets, however, a much clearer fraud picture emerges.
Here's a simple visual breakdown of how the pattern works.

One transaction. Fine.
Two transactions. Ok.
Three, four, five; all from the same number in minutes.
That is not a busy day. That is an account being drained.
Velocity abuse is one of the most common MoMo attack patterns in Ghana.
Ardevo flags it before the fifth transaction clears.

Money lands in a Ghana MoMo wallet.
Within seconds; it is gone.
Not spent. Not saved. Cashed straight out.
That is not a transaction. That is a money mule. Someone received stolen funds and moved them before anyone noticed.
Ardevo catches this pattern in real time before the cash out completes.

@MoCDTI The SSL/TLS certificate for the Registrar Generals Department website has been expired for 267 days. Please fix it! This is terrible security hygiene for an official government site.
Like imagine recommending someone for a job and they go for the interview and basically tell them, “the one who recommended me is stalking me so it’s either you sack her or lose me”. Accra is such a strange place goddamn!
