We provide operational support and technical expertise — and the results are historic. Together with our D.C. Safe and Beautiful Task Force partners, we executed over 1,700 arrests, more than 560 drug seizures, and over 330 firearm recoveries this summer — contributing to a 30% drop in homicides and a 48% decrease in carjackings. We also worked with our partners to secure major events celebrating America's semiquincentennial. Our agents and analysts shared intelligence to mitigate threats, including a planned attack targeting the UFC Freedom 250, while our bomb techs, crisis negotiators, divers, counter-drone operators, and other National Capital Response Squad members maintained a state of readiness to disrupt threats. Singaporean National Pleads Guilty for Role as Ringleader of $263 Million Cryptocurrency Scam: The defendant coordinated the scheme in which the conspirators used social engineering techniques to drain victims' cryptocurrency wallets. To mark the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, #FBIWFO hosted a ceremony last week to honor those who responded, remember those we have lost, and thank them and the families who supported them. Assistant Director in Charge Darren Cox said, "For many, 9/11 was a call to serve. Many of us joined the FBI determined to protect our country from ever experiencing such an attack again. "As the years pass, honoring those who ran toward danger — at the crash sites and throughout the investigation — becomes even more important. "Too many who responded that day and in the weeks to follow later lost their lives to illnesses caused by their work. "I often ask myself, 'If these heroes had known what that day would bring, would they still have responded?' I know the answer is yes — because that is what heroes do."
