JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Capt. Jared K. Cannon began his Air Force career in 2007 as an airman basic. Nearly two decades later, the former enlisted Airman is representing the National Guard in one of the Air Force’s premier leadership award competitions. Cannon, director of operations for the 125th Maintenance Squadron, Florida Air National Guard, was selected as the 2026 Lance P. Sijan Leadership Award winner at the National Guard level and will advance to compete for the Air Force-level award. “Capt. Cannon represents the kind of leader we strive to develop across the Florida Air National Guard — one who puts Airmen first, leads with humility and never loses sight of the mission,” said Brig. Gen. Richard L.
