GW7 Need the differentials to perform this week! 🤞🏼 Obviously not ideal having no Brighton but there was no one I was desperate to bench. Also sneakily hoping Hinshelwood and Vuskovic are good differentials by GW10.

Down to 850k 💀 What was a decent start to the season has turned into a bit of a disaster. Choosing to go against Brighton and back Forest on WC5 couldn’t have gone worse. Squad still feels ok with 3 FTs. Plenty of time to go…

JP gamble on WC5 isn’t looking good given that Chelsea goal market drop. Doubly bad as I could/should have beefed up the squad. Might be going 3 deep on the bench. Quite how I ended up without Pascal Gross I don’t know 🤦🏼‍♂️

GW5. 43 points on WC. Sixes and twos. But most importantly, a three: 🔝

Between these two squads for WC5. Left has Pedro. Right has Wissa & Groß to beef it up and cover if Pedro is out longer, but has no clear route back to him. Tav v Barnes also on my mind, particularly for the left squad, to get more info on Bournemouth while in Europe.

71 points is a decent start but the bench boost was ruined by Alonso the liar.

Landed on this. Actually became quite strong on No Haaland in the end, mainly because of the opportunity to attack other fixtures. Can’t remember having to think and plan for GW1 as much I have in the last weeks and days! Glad the deadline has passed.

There are also early fixtures to attack for the strong teams from last season. Arsenal GW 1 United GW 1 - 2 Liverpool GW 1 - 4 Chelsea GW 4 (Graphic @fplteam_)

Let's pivot to chip strategies. We know because there are no doubles GW 1-19, there's less risk in playing chips early. It is also accepted that there's a lot of info to be gained in the first few weeks because team strengths are so unclear. Early wildcards are likely anyway.

But it is a statement of fact that City don’t have the usual stability that leads to their fast starts which in turn leads to so many goals from Haaland.

It is also probable that this team is able to put together a performance and result against Bournemouth.

Time for a bit of positivity. City played ok and created chances in spells on Sunday. Arsenal were fantastic. Conceding 30 seconds in didn’t help and the second half was a complete write off. It's difficult to read anything from that game given the circumstances.

Doku’s injury is a big blow, and combined with the above, it’s already looking unclear what our starting XI on Sunday will be. Khusanov or Nunes at RB? Start Kovacic? Anderson at 6 or 8? Ait-Nouri or an unfit Cherki on the wing? Having these questions ahead of GW1 isn't ideal.

Given those departures, we simply have to act in the transfer market to be competitive. We have to sign at least two midfielders and a winger. Bouaddi & Enzo have been strongly linked. I’ve no idea who the winger might be. We have left our business late which isn't ideal.

First, let’s talk about that instability. We have lost Pep, Rodri and Bernardo in a matter of weeks. Our manager, best midfielder and captain. It would appear they won’t be the last of the departures. Reijnders, Savinho, Marmoush and Nico G all look close to moves.

Right, after a pretty grim few days for City fans, I’ve had a think about the implications of No Haaland. It’s basically taking a gamble on how long City’s current instability lasts, and I think you have to go pretty hard on that gamble by committing some chips.

Went round and round in circles for about 48 hours until it stopped here. Safe side on the left, punty side on the right. It’s just a lottery this week, isn’t it?

Decent green on wildcard is a pleasant surprise. Annoyed at what feels like a fuck up in picking Mitoma, but it might present a Cherki shaped opportunity given O’Reilly’s injury.

Big week shoots me up to 34k. In the last five gameweeks I’ve had two 10m+ and two sub-100k GW ranks. Need a grey arrow to level me out!

Two 10m+ GW ranks in a row have nearly *quadrupled* my rank from 22k to 87 😵 Very frustrating to have a lot of good work undone so quickly. It’s just a game, it’s just a game, it’s just a game… (Screen is @LiveFPLnet app)

Astonishingly bad gameweek. I’d already dropped to 50k before triple Arsenal, including TC, played two games and somehow made it worse. I’ve had some big green arrows recently, so can’t complain too much, but it stings to be at the wrong end of a gameweek with some big scores.
