Assistant Professor in @FSUComputerSci Xiaonan Zhang (slide one) and her research team have won the Best Paper Runner-Up Award at the @IEEEorg / @TheOfficialACM 2026 Conference on Connected Health: Applications, Systems and Engineering Technologies!
Led by Zhang's doctoral student Hansong Zhou (slide two), the paper explores AI's ability to act as a "coach," encouraging users to adopt and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
“Health behavioral change is inherently a long-term process, and sustained improvements in physical activity, diet, and sleep require continued support over time," Zhou said. "Our work examines how AI-based health coaching can maintain continuity across multiple sessions by tracking an individual's goals, progress, and barriers, while proactively guiding subsequent conversations."
