It’s always amusing to me when people reduce the Islamic dictate of modesty to a mere dupatta or scarf on the head, without regard to how expensive their outfits/jewels are. To the diehard PML-Ners — this isn’t about jealousy. I have no problem in saying she looks beautiful and has exquisite taste. But that doesn’t make a flagrant display of wealth by a public official right. Such expensive attire would be a scandal for a politician in any democracy, but to do it in a country struggling economically is in very poor taste.
